Mezzo Market is a neighborhood eatery and market serving dinner and lunch with full bar service that also offers wine, beer and readymade food for take home meals.
Owner Djordje Avramovic and his kitchen team prepare exciting and flavorful comfort food rooted in the Mediterranean with several unique dishes reflecting his Serbian heritage. The bar features inventive cocktails, New and Old World wines, local and imported beers, and espresso coffee drinks. Customers can seat themselves and order at the counter or receive full service at the bar.
Global Flavors, Charlotte Style
Djordje Avramovic has worked in restaurants since he was a child, beginning with his family’s cafe in Serbia. After immigrating to Charlotte in 1997 he worked many restaurant jobs until he and his family opened Intermezzo Pizzeria in 2007. Intermezzo quickly captured the hearts (and stomachs) of locals and drew the attention of Chef Guy Fieri, who spotlighted the restaurant on his Food Network show Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives. Djordje and his wife, Carol, opened Mezzo Market in Spring, 2025.

While customers will find some Intermezzo favorites (mostly notably their popular pizzas), Mezzo Market is focused on shared plates and a broader menu. Braised meat dishes like their famous Pork Cheeks share equal billing with gourmet sandwiches, healthier salads, soups, and grain bowls. Djordje brings bold flavors to familiar dishes with a few unexpected touches and proudly serves dishes from Serbia, Georgia, and Montenegro you will not find anywhere else in Charlotte.
Mezzo Market is conveniently located on The Plaza in Plaza Midwood with quick access to Uptown Charlotte and surrounding communities.
Initially a convenience store, the building has undergone a complete transformation, yet many touches from the original building such as the vintage cooler, have been preserved. You’ll know you have arrived when you spot the iconic Pepsi sign, a local landmark since the 1970s.
In addition to its vast food menu offerings, Mezzo continues to serve the neighborhood with wine and beer to go and has a revolving selection of restaurant-quality frozen meals prepared with the highest quality ingredients that are perfect to heat and eat at home.
